Job opportunities – RAS Support
Communities Together Durham is an independent Christian charity that works alongside churches and communities to tackle poverty and create lasting change. We lead projects which bring hope to communities across the Tyne -Tees area. We support passionate individuals and groups as they respond to local needs and challenge unjust structures, with a specific focus on alleviating poverty. We work closely with the Diocese of Durham, local authorities and ecumenical partners. You will be part of a staff team of 12 working in three distinct projects.
We are now seeking two additional members for our team supporting refugees and asylum seekers:
- an Assistant Development Officer (21 hours/week)
- a Project Support Worker (7 hours/week)
Assistant Development Officer
As Assistant Development Officer you will work within our project supporting refugees and asylum seekers in County Durham. You will have excellent people skills and be ready to welcome and support the needs of refugees and asylum seekers. You will be a key part of the team delivering weekly drop ins across County Durham and take a lead on coordinating our new volunteer scheme for service users. You will also be organised, have good administrative skills and be ready to get involved in one-to-one support of service users as required. This new role sits within a supportive and collaborative team.

Project Support Worker
As Project Support Worker you will work within our project supporting refugees and asylum seekers in County Durham. You will be a key part of delivering our Durham drop in each week. You will be the first person new arrivals at our Durham drop in meet. You will be organised and able to keep accurate administrative records. You will be a calm, welcoming presence for our service users. You will be able to work independently and as part of a supportive and collaborative team.
