Challenging Poverty Lent Course A new course for 2025

Communities Together Durham have written a new course for Lent 2025 to help churches explore their engagement with poverty.  You can sign up to run the course yourself with the course leaders pack, or join our central CTD zoom course on Tuesday evenings.

The course is written for our context in the North East and asks, how do we engage and respond to poverty?

The five sessions are:

  • Thinking about poverty
  • Looking at poverty
  • Talking about poverty
  • Talking about poverty
  • Responding to poverty
  • Tackling poverty

Each session includes a study on a Bible passage, some information on the topic and time for prayer and reflection.

You can join the course in two ways.

1. Run the course – sign up and we’ll send you the materials in early February to allow you time to prepare.

2. Join our zoom course.  Every Tuesday evening in Lent, 7.30pm.  We’ll host a 90 minute zoom, including guest speakers, interviews with people challenging poverty in the North East and break out group discussion.  This is a great option for individuals or churches this Lent.
